MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Eating cheap doesn’t have to mean sitting at home.

This week we’re checking out the best happy hours and date nights in the Twin Cities. We started with Edina — a city that only recently voted to allow happy hour drink prices to be advertised in May. But one restaurant — McCormick and Schmick’s — has always offered cheap eats from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and then again from 9:30 p.m. til close.

“You can get our half-pound burger and fries — that’s normally $10 on our regular menu — for $3.95 on our happy hour menu,” said general manager Mike Herstine.

The restaurant offers 12 options starting at $2.95 to $6.95.

From the bar, it’s $3.75 tap beer, $5 glasses of wine and $6 select cocktails.

“When you think of McCormick and Schmick’s, you don’t think of that kind of value,” says patron Stu Dankers.

That’s not the only surprise deal in Edina. If you’re looking for more of a date night, just head over to 50th and France.

Where when the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, think: Mozza Mia.

“For $40 you get two movie tickets to the theater across the street, a bottle of wine, a pizza of your choice and two scoops of gelato,” says Mozza Mia chef Heather Swan.

That’s a reel deal you can get seven days a week, anytime the restaurant is open.

“It’s an amazing date night,” said patron Cathleen Hession, “We probably would have spent that much on dinner and then the movie on top of it, so it’s a good deal.”

The Landmark Edina Movie Theater shows independent films. If something doesn’t strike you while you’re in, the tickets don’t go bad.

However, happy hour comes with a few stipulations in Edina. No two-for-ones, punch cards or bartering are allowed, but places from Salut to Crave are offering deals.
