Cops: Father Accused Of Killing His 3 Daughters

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A River Falls, Wis., father is in custody and accused of killing his three girls, between the ages of 5 and 11, police say.

Authorities won't say how Amara, Sophie and Cea Schaffhausen died on Tuesday, but said their father, 34-year-old Aaron Schaffhausen, is the suspect. The mother, who wasn't home at the time, helped police with the investigation.

Jessica Schaffhausen called police and told them that her ex-husband was saying things that made her fear for her girls' safety.

Chief Roger Leque, of River Falls Police, said there was a strong smell of gas when officers got to 2790 Morningside Avenue shortly after 3:30 p.m. It's not clear, however, if the gas had anything to do with the deaths.

When officer's found the girls, no one was in the house.

Not long after the girls were found, Schaffhausen turned himself in to authorities, Leque said.

The incident is still under investigation.
