MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Traffic is snarled on Interstate 394 heading west Wednesday after a fatal crash involving a small bus, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Authorities say the crash happened around 9 a.m. after a 2000 Chevy Express shuttle bus blew a tire and spun into a concrete barrier. It forced the far left and middle lanes of westbound I-394 to be closed while crews worked the scene.
The shuttle bus was carrying two passengers — Beverly Gilman, 85, of Minneapolis, who suffered minor injuries and Charles Miranda, 89, of Minneapolis, died in the crash.
The driver of the vehicle, Lalji Patel, 55, of Crystal, was not injured.
Authorities said the two lanes of I-394 will likely be closed for about three hours. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the accident.
