STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) — Sometimes you need more than a date night in order to reconnect — and one place in Minnesota offers a great date day.

All this week, we’ve been visiting different neighborhoods in search of deals. Your guide for a cheap night on the town. Tonight, we look at the romantic town of Stillwater.

Rafters Bar on Main Street offers the cheapest happy hour with $2 drinks and half-priced appetizers.

When happy hour ends, more deals can be had.

“Our Happy Hour is something different every day of the week,” says Manager Dawn Smith.

In fact, if you stick to her favorites, which include a Coors Light and artichoke dip, your total bill will be just $5.
The bar is known for its view — one they plan to make even better.

“We just got approved for our patio, so next year you’ll be able to have happy hour on the roof,” Smith said.

When you’re ready to move on to a date, you might want an atmosphere like Stillwater itself: cute, charming and plenty of character.

Diners told us they found that at Shanghai Bistro — inside or out.

On Wednesday nights you can try the restaurant’s Chinese date night for $25 — which allows you to share three entrees, an appetizer and dessert.

Or there’s the sushi date night — three sushi rolls, an appetizer and dessert for $30.

“We got feedback from the locals that they get a babysitter just for date night,” said owner Henry Chan.

Stillwater is also home to great wine bars and new gourmet restaurants.
