MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – You’ve put in all that time at the office this week and now that the weekend is within reach, it’s time to get out and let loose.

If you’re looking for something fun to do, check out these options:

Air Expo at Flying Cloud Airport

Aviation enthusiasts from around the state will be in Eden Prairie this weekend for the Air Expo. Head out to Flying Cloud Airport Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to see more than 50 vintage and modern airplanes flying and on display.

You can even ride in an historic WWII Bomber. Adult tickets are $15, kids are $5. Children 7 and under get in free.

Aquatennial Events

The best days of summer are officially here as the annual Minneapolis Aquatennial gets underway. The city of Minneapolis is celebrating its 73rd Aquatennial this year. Events start Friday and run for nine days, starting with a tennis tennis tournament and ending next weekend with a large fireworks display.

Other highlights include the Twin Cities River Rats Water Ski Show on Saturday and Sunday. Grab a blanket and stretch out on the bank of the Mississippi River while watching the water show, which is free.

And one of the biggest highlights of the Aquatennial will be the Torchlight Parade, which is next Wednesday as it lights up Hennepin Avenue downtown.

The Star Tribune Beach Bash is a must see. Head on out to Thomas Beach at Lake Calhoun Sunday for Milk Carton Boat Races and a sand castle building competition. The free fun starts at 10 a.m.
