CANNON CITY TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) – The Rice County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found inside a burning car in Rice County Sunday morning.

At 5:20 a.m., Rice County deputies and the Faribault Fire Department were sent to a vehicle fire on 150th Street West and Acorn Trail, which is in rural Rice County. There, the victim, of unknown age/race, was found dead inside.

The Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy and is working to identify the body.

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall’s Office are investigating.
