MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A district court judge sentenced the former CFO of Bixby Energy Systems Monday to 97 months in prison for fraud and tax evasion.

Judge Susan Richard Nelson sentenced 65-year-old Dennis Desender to a little more than 8 years in prison for lying to investors and for failing to file tax returns for three years. According to the Department of Justice, the tax evasion resulted in a loss of $825,866 for the IRS.

Desender pleaded guilty to both securities fraud and tax evasion last year.
