MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Three big events will be bringing a lot of people to downtown Minneapolis Wednesday night.

The Minnesota Twins game against the Baltimore Orioles at Target Field begins at 7:10 p.m., the Lifetime Fitness Torchlight 5K begins at 7:30 p.m. and the CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade begins at 8:30 p.m.

In order to accommodate the Aquatennial events, Hennepin Avenue will close from Dunwoody Boulevard and Lyndale Avenue to Washington Avenue beginning at 7 p.m. A number of cross streets will be closed during the time, too, but traffic will be able to cross Hennepin at 4th, 5th, 10th, 11th and Maple Street/16th Street.

Anyone heading downtown is encouraged to arrive early and before Hennepin Avenue closes. City officials suggest visitors to plan ahead, know your parking options, consider transit, consider biking, and to stay a bit later to avoid traffic.
