ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) – A Rochester man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty to stabbing a 2-year-old boy.
Twenty-three-year-old Antonio Roebuck pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted murder for repeatedly stabbing Xavier Njemanze in the bedroom of his Rochester home. The boy survived, but suffered brain damage and goes to therapy five days a week as he works to recover.
Roebuck has been in custody at the Olmsted County jail since the March 1 assault. Ten charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement, including first-degree burglary and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
The Post-Bulletin says Roebuck will be eligible for supervised release in 18 years.
