MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – This year’s Minneapolis Aquatennial is wrapping up this weekend, but the planning committee has already announced the Queen of the Lakes and princesses for next year’s celebration.

Carly Smith of Red Wing was named the Queen of the Lakes for next year. She’s a University of Minnesota student studying elementary education and dance. Smith is also training to be a Welcome Week Leader, a current student who greets incoming freshman at the school.

The Princesses will be Anna Surprenant of Sleepy Eye and Leah Krus of Fridley. Stephanie Aho of Princeton was given the Dove True Beauty Award.

The honors were handed out at a ceremony Friday night.
