E.J. Henderson Looking For Work, Still Giving Back
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One player that has held a spot for the Vikings the past nine seasons is looking for work.
E.J. Henderson has not re-signed with the Vikings or any team.
But he's not sitting still, he's giving back to kids in the city.
At Minneapolis North, they gather in a life skills class.
"When they come in here, they have to get their life skills lesson first," he said. "From leadership to organizational skills."
It's all part of the E.J. Henderson Youth Foundation, an inner-city program that starts in the classroom.
"I see a lot of kids with a lot of talent, looking for mentorship and the extra push," he said. "And most are ready to get physically fit."
The idea is to engage kids in the summer months, and Henderson is here to work out with them and help create some inspiration.
He has been the leader of the Vikings defense, but right now he's open for any team.
"I just need a team, I'm ready to work," he said. "Right now, I'm just waiting for the call."
So he trains where he lives, and he can't help but hope that his former team becomes his future team.
"I would love to retire here (Minnesota)," he said. "But we all understand it's a business."
