FRIDLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – Police in Fridley are investigating after a man was hit and killed by a train Monday night.

Authorities responded to the area of 77th Way NE at a set of railroad tracks on a report that pedestrian had been hit by a train. When authorities arrived, they found a man on the west side of the railroad tracks in the area.

Police said the man had been hit by a northbound Burlington Northern Santa FE train and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said foul play is not suspected at this time. The man’s identity has not been released as the incident is still under investigation by the Fridley Police Department, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and BNSF Railway.

Authorities said BNSF is fully cooperating with the investigation.
