Bikini Parade Not Likely To Break Record

MADISON LAKE, Minn. (WCCO) -- A bikini parade scheduled for Saturday is apparently quite a few marchers short of breaking a world record.

Cynthia Frederick, who owns a tanning salon in Mankato, invited women in bikinis to walk in the nearby Madison Lake parade this weekend.

Frederick wants to break the world record for the largest bikini parade and raise money for breast cancer prevention.

So far, only about 40 people have signed up. They need 451 women to join her in order to break the world record.

Some people were concerned bikini marchers wouldn't fit in at the family event. The City Council was not supportive of the event.

The parade was scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
