MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Terrell Mayes Jr. would have turned four years old on Sunday. But instead his family is remembering the life he could have had.

Mayes was killed after a stray bullet struck his north Minneapolis home last December. He was hit in the head by the bullet.

His family said Terrell and his brother heard the gunfire and ran upstairs to get to safety.

His killer has not been caught. On Sunday, Terrell’s family is holding a celebration from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., off Colfax Avenue, in north Minneapolis. There will also be a candlelit vigil.
