22-Year-Old Charged In Rochester Man's Death

ROCHESTER, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 22-year-old man has been indicted by an Olmsted County Grand Jury in the death of a 47-year-old Rochester man, according to the Olmsted County Attorney's Office.

The indictment charged Anthony Deshawn Jones with first-degree murder committed during a felony-controlled substance crime and second-degree intentional murder.

Police said they found the body of David Alan Biester, of Rochester, a little after 9 p.m. Sunday. Cpt. Brian Winters said a 50-year-old motorcyclist initially found Biester after he parked his bike in a parking lot on the 2100 block of 9th Street Northeast.

Investigators say blunt force trauma appeared to have caused his death.

The motorcyclist told police he saw a car leaving the parking lot before he found Biester. Authorities described the car as a dark (possibly red) passenger car with brighter than normal headlights. Witnesses also reported seeing Biester with a black man at a convenience store, which was confirmed by surveillance video.

Jones was later arrested in connection with the crime and is currently in custody at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center. Police say surveillance video from the convenience store helped them track down and arrest Jones.

Jones' bail has been set at $2 million without conditions and $1 million with conditions.

Jones' next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2012.
