MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Bystanders helped Cottage Grove police early Sunday morning in freeing a woman who was trapped inside a rolled over car, authorities said.

The rollover happened shortly after 2 a.m. on the 8100 block of Hemingway Avenue. When officers and emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found a four-door sedan upside down with a 34-year-old Cottage Grove woman trapped inside, the city said Tuesday.

Three people, who were in the car when it rolled, had managed to escape.

Crews brought all four people involved in the crash to Regions Hospital, where the 34-year-old woman is still recovering.

The Minnesota State Patrol is performing accident reconstruction at the scene. Criminal charges may be filed pending the results of the investigation.

Authorities gave no indication as to what criminal activity may have caused the crash.
