BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) - The Mall of America is celebrating its 20th birthday.

Mall officials brought out a huge cake to celebrate. It was somewhat of a replica of the Mall, including Nickelodeon Universe.

M.O.A first opened its doors August 11, 1992. It was built on the site of the former Met Stadium in Bloomington, where the Vikings and Twins used to play before the Metrodome.

There are plans to expand within the next ten years.

Today, more than 42 million visitors come to the Mall annually.

If you plan on shopping Saturday, several stores are offering deals to celebrate 20 years of fun.
