FAHLUM TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) – An 8-year-old Willmar boy was struck by a boat near the south shore of Big Kandiyohi Lake on Saturday afternoon.

EMS personnel arrived at the 6500 block of 147th Avenue Southeast around 4 p.m., where they attended to the boy who had suffered a head injury.

He was injured while being pulled by his family’s fishing boat while on a knee board. A pontoon, driven by a 75-year-old woman, veered to avoid the fishing boat, driven by the victim’s 33-year-old father. The pontoon then struck the child behind his family’s boat.

He was wearing his life jacket.

The boy was air lifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

The Kandiyohi county Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
