AITKIN, Minn. (WCCO) – A woman whose horse was attacked by a big cat wants to warn other animal owners in Minnesota.
The attack happened north of the town of Aitkin last week outside owner Lori Hart’s home near Highways 169 and 210.
Hart says a mountain lion or cougar mauled her 900-pound mare, taking out a big chunk out of her horse’s hind quarter.
The mare is expected to survive.
Hart is attempting to spread the word so that other horse owners are on alert. She says a similar attack happened last month.
