MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed Tuesday morning on the city's south side.

Twenty-five-year-old Venese Johnson died shortly after 7 a.m. on the 2100 block of Oakland Avenue South from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

Minneapolis Police learned of the shooting through Shotspotter technology at about 6:45 a.m. When officers responded to the scene, they found Johnson dead inside a van.

Police said there were no witnesses and that they have little information about the shooting, which is still under investigation.

Authorities say Johnson, who lived in north Minneapolis, was murdered.
