MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Volunteers will hit the streets in the Twin Cities on Wednesday for the United Way Action Day.

It’s an event aimed at helping local communities, while also kicking off the 2012 campaign. It’s a day full of volunteering activities, including speed volunteering at the U.S. Plaza in downtown Minneapolis from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

There will also be an event at the Ecolab Plaza in downtown St. Paul and a large event at the Mall of America from 4 to 7 p.m. Several Twin Cities organizations are participating in the United Way Action Day event.
