MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – In one week, the Gopher football team will travel to Las Vegas to take on the Rebels.
How will the offense look? Well, the team believe it’s not what you teach, it’s how you teach it. And for the Gopher staff this August, it’s been about educating a young roster.
“This is maybe the youngest team I’ve coached in 30 years, that’s how young it is,” coach Jerry Kill said.
The veteran that must be “the man” on offense is senior quarterback MarQueis Gray, the face of the team.
“Being a starting quarterback, you must know everyone’s job,” Gray said. “And you have no choice but to look at it as your offense. I love it a lot.”
Even though it’s the coaching staff’s second year, they’ve decided to take a step back and simplify.
It took almost an entire season to get where they wanted to go a year ago. That led to a new philosophy — let’s bring it back a bit.
So that’s what camp is about, creating confidence and creating an attitude.
