WINONA, Minn. (AP) — A 61-year-old Winona man has been struck and killed by a train.
Winona Police say Mark Rodney Henningsgaard was walking on railroad tracks on the city’s east side Friday morning when he was struck. Police say the train sounded its horn and activated its brakes but was unable to avoid striking the man.
KAGE Radio in Winona reports the crossing was closed for about two hours following the incident. The Winona County Medical Examiner is conducting an investigation into what happened.
