MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man is in critical condition after a nearly all-day standoff near Hutchinson, Minn.

Police say they received a call around 12:27 p.m. Saturday, regarding an incident at a farm on the 18000 block of 145th Street, near the intersection of 145th Street and Plum Avenue.

Upon arrival, they discovered a woman was inside the home when a man she knew came to the home and fired shots outside. The man remained outside and the woman barricaded herself in the home until police could safely remove her, around 10:30 p.m.

Authorities say they searched the property for the man, who was hiding somewhere near the farm.

As officials cornered the suspect, the man shot himself.

He was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in critical condition. It is unknown if he will survive his injuries.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
