HAMMOND, Wis. (WCCO) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Wisconsin’s St. Croix County late Sunday evening.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened at about 10 p.m. Sunday on County Trunk Highway E in the vicinity of 103rd Street near Hammond.

The motorcycle was traveling westbound. The driver left the roadway and crashed into the north embankment.

The driver was not wearing a helmet.

According to authorities, the motorcyclist may have fled police earlier, but the State Patrol said the driver was not being actively pursued at the time of the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
