PAYNESVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Authorities in central Minnesota say a teen whose all-terrain vehicle sustained a flat tire has died after the vehicle flipped over, pinning him underneath.
The Stearns County sheriff’s office identified the boy Monday as 16-year-old Cody Christian Hagen of Paynesville.
Deputies say Hagen was riding the ATV on Sunday afternoon on private property. He was going too fast as he tried to turn in a pasture, and a front tire went flat.
That caused the ATV to roll onto the driver’s side, pinning him down. Another juvenile who was with him lifted the vehicle off of him and called Hagen’s mother. She took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office says it’s investigating the accident.
