MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Firefighters in Minneapolis are going to be asking you to Fill the Boot.
The Fill-the-Boot campaign helps to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
You’ll see firefighters holding their fire boots at city intersections for the next few days asking for donations.
“We’ve seen victims and families in serious traumatic events and tragedies with fires but on the other side, we’ve seen how families are stricken with children who unfortunately have been diagnosed with these diseases,” said Mark Lakosky, president of the Minneapolis Firefighters, Local 82.
Minneapolis firefighters raised $80,000 for MD last year — and they’re hoping to beat that amount this year.
Nationwide, more than $28 million was raised.
