BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) – An overnight fire has damaged the building used as a haunted house near Buck Hill in Burnsville.
Fire officials say the fire started in a large tent structure that was attached to that house. Officials believe the building may have been in the middle of preparations for seasonal use as a haunted house.
“It appears that it was probably being set up or being constructed for the Halloween season,” said Burnsville Fire Chief B.J. Jungman.
No one was inside the 40-by-80-foot structure at the time. There were no injuries associated with the fire.
Orchard Manor is one of several attractions open during Buck Hill’s annual “Frightmares” event, around Halloween.
Buck Hill said the building affected by the fire was the Bellharm-Lovejoy Asylum, one of four houses included in the seasonal attraction.
Despite the fire, Buck Hill said Frightmares would begin as scheduled on October 5.
The fire was put out easily, but crews are still investigating the cause. There is official cause yet, and crews haven’t ruled out arson. But Jungman says it’s too soon to determine.
