MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a 13-year-old boy from Winthrop died Sunday after he was hit by a semi-truck while riding his bike on Saturday.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the boy Tuesday as Jacob Weber. The accident happened at about 2:29 p.m. Saturday on Highway 15 at 290th Street.
Authorities said Weber was heading northbound on Highway 15 with several others before he crossed in front of the Mack semi-truck, which was also traveling northbound. Weber was in critical condition immediately after the accident, but died at Hennepin County Medical Center on Sunday.
The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.
The medical examiner said Weber died from multiple blunt force injuries associated with the accident. The Minnesota State Patrol and the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the accident.
