MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 30-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly drove into a vehicle three times during a road rage incident.
John Gordon Weisner, of Coon Rapids, has been charged with second-degree assault and criminal damage to property for an incident that occurred around 6 p.m., Sept. 7 near County Road 10 and Jefferson Street in Spring Lake Park.
Police were dispatched on a report of a vehicle involved in a road rage case and upon arrival, found a Subaru Impreza on the side of the road. The driver of the Subaru told police he was driving when a blue Ford Thunderbird came up behind him at a high rate of speed.
The driver said he moved into the left lane to allow the Thunderbird to pass, but the car pulled up alongside him. He told police the Thunderbird then struck his vehicle three times — at one point, hitting him hard enough to force him into the median.
The driver said the Thunderbird then sped off. The victim provided police with a description of the driver and a witness was able to verify the license plate of the Thunderbird.
Police took photos of the damage, that lined the entire right side of the vehicle.
If convicted, Weisner could face up to 12 years in prison and/or up to $24,000 in fines on both charges.
