MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Construction will shut down a portion of the Hiawatha light rail line this weekend, Metro Transit says.
During the construction, which is slated to start at 6:30 p.m. Friday and run until Sunday at 3:30 a.m., buses will carry travelers between the Target Field and Franklin Avenue stations. As a result, the following stations will be out of service: Hennepin Avenue, Nicollet Mall, Government Plaza, Downtown East and Cedar-Riverside.
Construction crews will be working east of the Metrodome where the new Central Corridor light rail line meets the Hiawatha line.
Metro Transit said bus schedules will run similar to train schedules, but travelers should expect longer commutes.
Travelers can see up-to-the-minute details of the construction plan at Metro Transit’s website. They can also call 612-373-3333.
Northstar rail service will not be directly affected, Metro Transit said.
