Doug McLeod Named New Voice For Gopher Hockey

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials announced Wednesday there's a new play-by-play voice for Gopher men's hockey this season.

Fox Sports North and the University of Minnesota announced that Doug McLeod will be the team's new play-by-play voice for televised games. He'll be joined by analysts Kevin Gorg and Casey Hankinson. McLeod takes over for Anthony LaPanta, who became the play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Wild earlier this summer.

McLeod previously served as the voice of the Minnesota North Stars for six years and called all six games of their appearance in the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals. He was also the first TV voice for Gopher hockey, spending 16 years covering the team on TV and radio.

Since 2006, he has worked as a freelance play-by-play announcer, author and news anchor.
