Maria Hauger
Sport – Cross-Country
Class – Senior
High School – Shakopee

The senior standout further solidified her standing as the top runner in Minnesota with a dominating victory in Saturday’s girls Gold race at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational. Hauger is a three-time Class 2A state champion who three weeks ago suffered her first defeat in Minnesota in nearly four years. Competing at the Griak for the first time, Hauger outran more than 400 runners from 44 schools in nine states to win the 5,000-meter race and set a course record. She will attempt to win her fourth state cross-country title on Nov. 3 at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
