MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The jury in the trial of a Minnesota man accused of directing Somali youths to fight with the terror group al-Shabab in their homeland is hearing from some of the young men’s relatives.

Mahamud Said Omar faces five terror-related counts.

The sister of suicide bomber Shirwa Ahmed testified Wednesday that her brother called her two days before he died in Somalia on Oct. 29, 2008. She says he “didn’t sound right.”

Defense attorneys questioned Hibo Ahmed about inconsistencies in her story, saying she initially told authorities she last heard from her brother more than a week before his suicide.

The mother of Jamal Sheikh Bana and the brother of Abdikadir Ali Abdi also testified, saying the men didn’t have enough money to travel to Somalia unaided.
