Officers Identified In Richfield Police-Involved Fatal Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - The three officers involved in last Friday's fatal shooting in Richfield, Minn. have been identified.

Police say a man, later identified as Jeffrey Michael O'Connor, was shot and killed by police after the officers responded to a call involving a man with a knife inside a home on the 6600 block of Park Avenue South. O'Connor was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Richfield police officers involved in the incident are Sgt. Mark Shelley, a 20-year veteran, Officer Tom Blair, a 23-year veteran and Officer Brian Rogge, a 16-year veteran.

All officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.

"Although the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office will continue the investigation of this incident; I am confident that this investigation will determine that our officers acted in accordance with department policy and procedure," said Richfield Police Chief Todd Sandell.
