Need A Man? For A Fee, N.Y. Matchmaker Can Help

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- We love our reality TV shows about people looking for love, but there's a real bachelor here in the Twin Cities who has brought in a big time matchmaker to find the love of his life.

Professional matchmaker Janis Spindel says she has matched nearly 1,000 clients in relationships that have eventually resulted in marriage.

Spindel has been flown in from New York to make a match for a local mystery man she says looks "exactly like JFK Jr."

She said her "tall, dark and handsome hunk" is a successful lawyer with dimples. He's 34 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall and has never been married before. He is hoping to start a family.

Spindel told WCCO's Natalie Kane her client is looking for a "girl next door" type, ideally in her late 20s or early 30s, with an athletic build and natural beauty. She should also be intellectually stimulating.

In other words, Spindel is seeking someone with "the four B's: beauty, brains, body, and balance."

Yes, it sounds like a pretty tall order, but Spindel joked, "There's not enough time on air to tell what men are looking for."

Like most men, Spindel suggested that her client approached her because men have difficulty selecting "the right woman" for them, and are too often dazzled by externalized features.

"What happens is men stay too long with pretty women in a relationship who aren't really the right girl, just because they don't always think with their brains," she said.

If you think you fit the bill, you may have to double check your finances. Spindel charges potential mates a fee to be considered for her judgment.
