ND Sheriff's Deputy Arrested In Crookston Break-In

CROOKSTON, Minn. (AP) -- A North Dakota sheriff's deputy has been charged in a break-in at a Minnesota convenience store.

Police say Adam Koenig, 22, of Park River, N.D., was found lying behind the till of a Holiday gas station in Crookston early Thursday morning. They were responding to a report of a suspicious person with blood on his face outside the station, and arrived to find a glass door smashed in.

Police say Koenig was wearing a badge on his belt and identified himself as a Walsh County, N.D., sheriff's deputy, the Grand Forks Herald reported.

Koenig was charged with burglary and criminal damage to property, and was in the Polk County jail on Friday. His attorney didn't immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment.
