MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — For some Minnesotans, access to dental care is hard to come by. That’s why a giant dentist office on wheels travels the state, trying to make a difference.
It’s back in the Twin Cities on Monday, giving dental care to those who can’t afford it.
The UCare Mobile Dental Clinic is no different than your typical trip to the dentist office, other than it has wheels and can travel around to give care to those who need it. The clinic is a converted 43-foot long bus and it’s done in conjunction with the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
The mobile dental clinic travels 15,000 miles across Minnesota throughout the year and the initiative has been around for 10 years. The clinic provides care to UCare members, often those who are uninsured across the state and can be a good option for someone who needs dental care and doesn’t have a primary provider.
