BIG LAKE TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) — An 18-year-old pedestrian died when he was struck by a vehicle in Big Lake Township Tuesday, according to the Sherbune County Sheriff’s Office.
At 11:43 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian crash on Sherburne County Road 81, north of US Highway 10 in Big Lake Township.
When deputies arrived on scene, they confirmed that a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Michael Jorgenson of Big Lake, Minn. hit the pedestrian, identified as Efren Martinez, 18, also of Big Lake, while traveling northbound on CR 81.
The Sheriff’s Office said that there is no suspicion of alcohol or drug use by Jorgenson.
Martinez’s body has been sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed.
The crash remains under investigation.
