Gophers Get Out Of 2 Games With North Carolina

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota coach Jerry Kill is trying to build up the program by keeping the nonconference schedules as nonthreatening as possible.

The university confirmed Tuesday the cancellation of two games against North Carolina. The Gophers originally agreed to travel to Chapel Hill in 2013 and host the Tar Heels in 2014, but they're now working to fill those dates with other teams.

Minnesota has recently scheduled games with Kent State in 2015 and New Mexico State in 2016.

The Gophers won all four of their nonconference games to start this season. Syracuse was their only opponent from one of the big six Bowl Championship Series conferences.
