MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe is the latest to appear in a Minnesotans United for All Families ad, which urges people to vote no on the marriage amendment.
In the ad, which was released online on Monday, Kluwe said it’s simply a matter of treating others the way you want to be treated.
“To me, marriage means two people that love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives with each other,” he says in the ad. “There is no difference between a gay household and a heterosexual household in raising a kid.”
Kluwe has been vocal about his opposition to the marriage amendment, voicing his opinions in a Pioneer Press column and taking on former Vikings teammate Matt Birk, who is in support of the amendment.
“It’s not the government’s job to tell us what to do. That’s not what America was founded on. That’s not what America stands for,” Kluwe states.
