WAVERLY, Minn. (WCCO) – Three people escaped a burning home west of the Twin Cities metro Thursday morning, authorities say.

Fire crews were called to the 6300 block of Dempsey Avenue SW at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the town of Waverly on a report a house fire. When authorities arrived, a fire had started on the deck of the home and spread to the roof and the attic. Waverly is about an hour west of the Twin Cities.

Authorities said a woman and two children were inside the home when the fire started. All three made it out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
