BEMIDJI, Minn. (AP) — Chris Ciotti’s goal at 16:51 of the third period lifted Lake Superior State to a 2-0 win over Bemidji State on Friday in men’s college hockey.
Ciotti’s power-play goal during a five-minute major penalty late in the game spoiled the season opener for the Beavers (0-1-0). Domenic Monardo scored an empty-net goal with 12 seconds left in the game.
The Lakers outshot Bemidji State 40-27. Andrew Walsh turned away 38 shots for the Beavers.
Lake Superior goalie Kevin Kapalka made 27 saves.
The Lakers (2-1-0) are 23-17-2 all-time against the Beavers.
