MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Bryce Gervais scored in the closing minutes to rally Minnesota State-Mankato to a 3-3 tie with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday night in men’s college hockey.
Gervais’ goal at 16:56 came just four minutes after Johnny McInnis had tied it for MSUM (2-0-1). Teddy Blueger’s goal at 3:25 of the first period had given the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.
But RPI (1-1-1) netted the next three goals from Nick Bailen, Matt Neal and Ryan Haggerty, whose goal at 7:19 of the third gave the Engineers their largest lead.
RPI goalie Scott Diebold had two of his 22 saves in overtime, while Phil Cook stopped three of his 26 saves in the extra period.
