MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota Twins have added three coaches to their major league staff, the team announced Monday morning.
Tom Brunansky has been named the team’s hitting coach, Bobby Cuellar was named the team’s pitching coach and Terry Steinbach has been named the team’s new bench coach and catching instructor. Team officials also announced Monday that Scott Ullger will coach first base, and Joe Vavra will coach third base and also be an infield instructor.
Brunansky was the hitting coach for the Twins minor league AA affiliate in 2011 and this past season was the hitting coach for the AAA Rochester Red Wings. Brunansky was a member of the Twins during their run to the 1987 World Series title.
Cuellar has been the pitching coach at AAA Rochester for the last four seasons.
Steinbach is getting his coaching start after playing 14 seasons in the major leagues, including three years with the Twins. Steinbach is also a New Ulm, Minn., native.
