ST. PAUL (WCCO) — One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting on St. Paul’s east side.
Authorities say the shooting happened on the 300 block of Jessamine Avenue.
A car had collided with an SUV near where the shooting occurred. Police wouldn’t say what happened in the crash but said the driver of the SUV did something to make the officers believe their lives were in danger.
At least one of the two officers shot at the car, killing the driver. Two other people were passengers in the car but were not injured.
The names of the officers involved were not released.
Neighbors say they heard at least a dozen shots fired.
Police say the driver who was killed was part of a larger, on-going investigation. They won’t say what that investigation included, but that the neighborhood is not in danger.
The police say more information will be available at noon Wednesday.
