Minn. Deer Hunters Urged To Buy Licenses Early

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota deer hunters are urged to buy their licenses early to avoid long lines and potentially overloading the system.

The Department of Natural Resources says Minnesota has nearly 500,000 deer hunters, and the firearms season begins Saturday, Nov. 3.

Deer licenses can be purchased for $27 from agents across Minnesota. Hunters who buy by phone and Internet pay additional fees, and receive their deer licenses and tags by mail, which can take three to five business days.

The DNR also reminds hunters selected by lottery for the early wolf season they must buy their licenses by Wednesday, or they'll be made available to other hunters. As of Friday, the DNR had sold about 2,000 of the 3,600 wolf licenses available for the early season, which also opens Nov. 3.
