Fargo's Hotel Donaldson Hosts 'Bras On Broadway' Fundraiser

FARGO, N.D. (WCCO) – It's going to be an uplifting day to say the least in Fargo.

The first clue?  Two miles worth of bras strung together and draped over Fargo's Hotel Donaldson. Hotel owner Karen Stoker said the colorful garlands in all shapes and sizes are a way to promote breast cancer awareness and a Thursday night fundraiser affectionately called "Bras on Broadway."

Stoker said they're hopeful people will pause, take notice and take action because she said breast cancer is a type of cancer the average person can really have an impact on.

Thursday's auction will feature bras designed by local artists, made of things like blown glass, carved wood, fur and other found objects. All of the money raised goes to gas cards for breast cancer patients, who Stoker says often have to travel hundreds of miles for treatment.

What's next for this innovative local businesswoman?  A similar event in February to raise money for prostate cancer awareness, and, you guessed it, garlands of men's underwear streaming from the hotel.
