Buck Trapped In Soccer Net Freed By DNR

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A pair of Wisconsin conservation wardens had to free a buck that got trapped in a soccer goal in La Crosse.

Viterbo University baseball players found the buck trapped in the goal's net on their way to practice at another field Saturday morning. Department of Natural Resources officials say the deer jumped a fence to get onto the field, got its antlers stuck in the net and had spent the night trapped.

Wardens Ed McCann and Tyler Strelow zip-tied McCann's knife to a stick so they could saw through the net from a safe distance. The buck took off and ran to the fence but was too tired to jump it. The wardens had some bystanders open the fence's gate and the deer eventually found its way to freedom.
