LONG PRAIRIE, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities in Todd County say a 26-year-old shot himself in the foot during last weekend’s firearm deer hunting opener.
The accident happened about five miles north of Clarissa, Minn. on Sunday evening just after 6 p.m.
The Todd County Sheriff’s Office said Daniel Hayes, of Sartell, Minn., was unloading his firearm when he accidentally shot himself in the foot.
He was taken to Staples Hospital and later to St. Cloud Hospital.
His injuries were not life-threatening.
